Family Farm History Foundation was founded in 2013 with the mission to capture and preserve the past, present and future of farms across the United States. To capture this history, we ask for your help. FFA chapters across the state of Iowa will compete to see who can contribute the most to the preservation of farm history though our website.
Rules & Requirements
Participating FFA chapters will submit stories to our website through the “Share Your Story” form. Submissions should include the history of the farm and the family that lived and worked there, along with any details that add personality and uniqueness to the story of that farm. Students may write their stories as a paper, short article or video. The entire form must be complete prior to submitting.
Under “Shared By”, please enter the name of the student or advisor submitting the story as well as which chapter you are from. For example, “John Smith of the Gilbert chapter”.
The decision on who will receive the top three spots will be decided upon by the Family Farm History Foundation board. They will base their decision on several factors related to the quality of documentation, storytelling, photos and videos. Application are due by Friday, January 31, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship Contest Poster
Here is a link to example of an excellent submission by Patrick Gannon. He captured the story of Bud through his excellent videography skills. He added the farm’s general location and a photo. Finally, he added a brief description.

Some submissions used only writing and photography to tell their story, which is also acceptable. Be creative, document the history and tell a compelling story!
